What is FSC Ipe?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization
responsible for management of the earths forests. FSC creates
standards that work to ensure responsible forestry is practiced.
These practices are insure economic and environmental management of
Ipe and other woods.
Major global Environmental groups encourage and support FSC
certification. These groups include many household names such as
Greenpeace, Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, The Nature
Conservancy and World Wildlife Fund . Today’s consumers demand
healthy self sustaining forests to pass on to the next generation.
Communities should always look and ask for the FSC label when
looking at Ipe.
Details: Landowners planning to sell timber and forest products
use certification as one means to validate to consumers they are
practice forestry consistent with FSC certification. Certification
requires Independent organization endorsed by FSC to carry out
assessments and insure that the standards are being met. These
certifiers also audit companies displaying and selling FSC certified
products that they can validate their relationship to FSC certified
sources. This is called "chain of custody" and its certification
insures that all end uses can trust the FSC label.
What do you mean by "RealWood Certified?"

RealWood is a certifying body that approves that our Ipe
and other Brazilian hardwoods are harvested responsibly. The
RealWood is part of all our brazilian decking products like Real Ipe
decking, Real Cumaru Decking, Real Jatoba decking, and others.
So what about those "RealIpe" tags?

RealIpe is the tag signifying a certified RealWood product.
You can be confortable you are getting RealWood products when the
end of the board has the tag. Be sure to ask for "RealIpe", "RealGarapa"
or other Brazilian wood products.
